Italian Style Salisbury Steak. Ground beef sliders pan seared and finished in the oven with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Spaghetti and meatballs are a staple in my household. We make meatballs several times a month, and sometimes as many as twice a week. It is a simple way to use ground beef, pork, chicken, or turkey. Also, since I keep marinara sauce at the ready in the house, spaghetti and meatballs is a logical choice.
Sometimes if I make a large batch of meatballs we get some nice crusty Italian bread and make meatball sandwiches. This recipe is a variation of my meatball recipe, with some extra herbs added to bolster the flavor. The sliders are larger than the meatballs, and fit nicely on a toasted ciabatta roll.
I am choosing to pan sear the sliders to get a nice crust on the outside before I add the marinara sauce and finish the sliders in the oven. You can easily choose to cook the sliders from start to finish in the oven. To do this, place the formed sliders onto a 9×13 baking pan and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes, then add the marinara sauce to the pan and continue on with the recipe as originally written.
I hope this Italian style Salisbury steak recipe turns out good for you. If you tried the alterative method of baking the sliders from start to finish, please leave a comment below, and let me know how they turned out.

Invent Your Recipe:
The ingredients for this recipe are very similar to my meatball recipe. The one difference is I like to use more herbs in this recipe. If you do not have marinara sauce on hand you can use diced tomatoes instead. If you do, I would add a few ounces of water to the skillet while the patties are baking.
When choosing the mozzarella cheese for this recipe I would ensure you pick a high quality cheese. Otherwise, the cheese may not melt evenly and it will be oily.
