In a large mixing bowl add the ground beef, eggs, grated cheese, bread crumbs, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Mix everything well until a large ball is formed. Next, form palm size patties with the mixture (about 3 oz. a patty).
Cooking the Sliders:
In a large oven safe skillet on high heat cook the patties on both sides until brown (about 2 minutes a side, 4 total minutes).
Next, drain the grease from the skillet and then add the marinara sauce to the skillet.
Place the skillet into the oven and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
Bringing it All Together:
After 20 minutes, remove the skillet from the oven. Next, add a pinch of mozzarella cheese to each patty and place the skillet back into the oven.
Bake until the cheese is melted and begins to golden, about 10 minutes.
To Serve:
Place the sliders on crunchy Italian bread, or serve with a side of spaghetti.
Notes
Invent Your Recipe:The ingredients for this recipe are very similar to my meatball recipe. The one difference is I like to use more herbs in this recipe. If you do not have marinara sauce on hand you can use diced tomatoes instead. If you do, I would add a few ounces of water to the skillet while the patties are baking. When choosing the mozzarella cheese for this recipe I would ensure you pick a high quality cheese. Otherwise, the cheese may not melt evenly and it will be oily.
