Crispy and Creamy Fried Ravioli Recipe with marinara sauce and grated cheese. Quick meal done in under 30 minutes. Great served as a main dish or an appetizer.
This is a must try recipe! The only thing better than a ravioli, is a deep fried ravioli! The crunchy exterior and the creamy inside is an amazing culinary experience. Couple that with some great marinara sauce and you are all set.
I am making this fried ravioli recipe from frozen ravioli. I find this is easier as the ravioli will maintain its shape and tends not to break as it is being fired in hot oil.

Invent Your Recipe:
For this pan fried ravioli recipe, make sure you bread and fry the raviolis while they are still frozen. Otherwise, they will begin to fall apart when you fry them in the hot oil. Any size ravioli will do, so pick what you like.
To try something different, use frozen tortellini. Approach the recipe the same way, and see how it turns out. I am sure they will be crispy and delicious.
I have pair this fried ravioli recipe with marinara sauce, however, you can use whichever fried ravioli sauce you prefer. You could use a horseradish based sauce, or how about a sun dried tomato aioli (sun dried tomatoes, garlic, and oil)?
If you like this fried ravioli recipe try some frozen shells, manicotti, or cannelloni.
Does ravioli need to be thawed before frying?
My preference is NO. I like to leave the ravioli frozen. I find this is easier as the ravioli will maintain its shape and tends not to break as it is being fired in hot oil.
Can you pan fry ravioli instead of boiling?
Sure, you can give anything a try. I pan fry perogies and they turn out crunchy on the outside. Ravioli is similar, so I would imagine they would turn out crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. If you want to prevent against the ravioli breaking, bead the ravioli before frying as I did in this fried ravioli recipe. However, for a main entrée I prefer to boil ravioli, then add a sauce.
