In this dish, baked Italian sausage and potatoes, I am using sweet pork sausage. You could also use chicken or turkey sausage if you prefer. The cook time should be similar no matter which type of sausage you choose.
I decided to use potatoes and carrots in this sausage casserole dinner recipe. However, for a more traditional sausage bake you could use peppers and onions to make a rustic baked sausage and peppers and onions dinner.
You could even add more vegetables into this baked Italian sausage and potatoes dish. I would recommend trying asparagus, zucchini, cauliflower, eggplant, beets, or broccoli. You can really pick any combination of vegetables you prefer. These sausage casserole ingredients can be as simple or complex as you like.
