The green beans and garlic used in this recipe are from my garden. In a previous post I stated green beans might be my favorite vegetable to grow, however, garlic is probably my favorite vegetable to grow. It looks lovely and the flavor of home grown garlic is unmatched. I just love it for my recipes.
The garlic in this stir fry cabbage with green beans recipe is a soft-neck variety called Sicilian Artichoke from Filaree Farms. I have purchased my seed garlic from this farm for several years and I highly recommend them for quality and customer service.
In my location I grow soft-neck garlic over hard-neck garlic because I prefer the long storage life the soft-neck garlic has. I plant my garlic in November and then harvest around the fourth of July. The garlic will store in my basement for up to 12 months, sometimes even longer.
The green beans in this recipe are a variety called Green Crop Bush Bean from Hoss Tools. The bean pods for this variety can get as long as 8 inches and the taste is wonderful. I highly recommend this variety. I have purchased bean seeds from Hoss Tools for several years and I highly recommend them for quality, germination rate, and customer service.

Invent Your Recipe:
In this recipe, stir fry cabbage with green beans, I am using a red onion for this recipe because I like the bolder flavor if provides compared to a traditional yellow or sweet onion. However, use whichever variety of onions you like. I think yellow, sweet, green, or even shallots would work well.
I added in the plum tomatoes for some additional color and flavor. You could also use fresh cherry tomatoes, canned diced tomatoes, or canned whole tomatoes cut up. Or leave out the tomatoes entirely. It is up to you and your taste buds.
