Orange Pork with Broccoli. Boneless pork loin cut into thin strips and sautéed with a sweet orange sauce and served with broccoli.
This orange pork with broccoli recipe was my attempt to make a mandarin pork sauce without using a store bought bottle. To be honest, it could have turned out better. But, the recipe was still tasty and a nice changeup to our normal lineup of pork recipes.
I will need to rethink this recipe and give it another go. It might take 3 or 4 tries to get this simple pork recipe invented the way that I like. But that is how this process works of creating your own recipes.

How to Make Orange Pork with Broccoli
Marinating the Pork:
- Begin by cleaning and trimming the fat from the pork chops and cutting the chops into bit size slices. Place the pork into a plastic bag or mixing bowl and add 1/2 cup orange juice, salt, pepper, and 1 tbsp or honey.
- Mix all the ingredients well and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Preparing the Pork:
- In a large skillet, add ¼ cup of canola oil and bring to a high heat. Add in the garlic and sauté until golden (about 2 minutes).
- Lower to a medium heat and add marinated pork and sauté until golden brown in color (about 5 minutes), mixing occasionally.
Bringing it All Together:
- Continuing on medium heat, add in the broccoli, soy sauce, 1/2 cup of orange juice, and 2 tbsp. of honey and sauté for 5 minutes, mixing occasionally.
- Next, add in the mandarin oranges and sauté for 2 minutes, mixing occasionally.
How to Serve Orange Pork with Broccoli:
- Place mandarin pork with broccoli on a bed of your favorite grain or with a side of potatoes. In the recipe picture I am serving the pork over white rice.
Invent Your Recipe:
For this orange pork and broccoli recipe we used mandarin oranges and orange juice to make the sauce. You can try out different fruit flavors with this sauce. I would also recommend trying out pineapple. To kick this sauce up a bit add some crushed red pepper flakes or chilies.
Instead of broccoli you could substitute a long list of vegetables, including asparagus, zucchini, green beans, eggplant, spinach, and peppers, to name a few. Choose the vegetables you most enjoy, or try something new. Either way, invent the recipe that works best for you.
