Invent Your Chicken with Green Beans Recipe:
I enjoy boneless chicken breasts the most with this chicken with green beans and cannellini beans recipe, however, I have used boneless pork loin and London broil before as substitutes, and have been happy with the result. You could even use shrimp, scallops, or calamari if you wanted to make this a seafood dish.
For the beans in this chicken with green beans dish, you can pretty much substitute anything you like. I am not sure if I would like this dish as much with black beans, however they would technically work. I would recommend kidney beans, great northern, navy beans, garbanzo, or pinto beans as substitutes for the cannellini beans.
If you do not have fresh tomatoes for this chicken with green beans dish, you can use a can of diced tomatoes. I have also used sun dried tomatoes, black olives, marinated artichoke hearts, and roasted red peppers in this dish. I encourage you to try a variety of ingredients to pair with this chicken with green beans dish.
For the green beans in this chicken with green beans dish, you could substitute many vegetables, including Swiss chard, kale (add some cooking time), eggplant, zucchini, spinach, peas, Brussel sprouts. Obviously, the dish would no longer be called chicken with green beans, however, it would be delicious and your own recipe.
Really the list of vegetables is endless. Use what you have in the house, or try some new combinations of vegetables. That main thing is have fun and enjoy cooking this chicken with green beans recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions About Green Beans
What pairs well with green beans?
Green beans work well in a lot of dishes. They are great for adding into stir fry dishes, into cold salad appetizers, and for pairing with meat or seafood. Specifically, green beans make a great addition to pasta, such as spaghetti with garlic, oil, and green beans.
Green beans are also great on their own as a side dish. Just add some herbs and spices and you have a great side vegetable. Or add in some other vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, or peppers for a more hearty side dish.
Chicken with green beans is a reliable options for a meal. I would also pair green beans with baked salmon, sautéed shrimp, grilled streak, or roasted pork loin. These are some great options, but the combinations are really endless.
What to put in green beans to add flavor?
Herbs, spices, sauces, nuts, and vegetables. There are many possibilities, here are a few: Salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, tomatoes, butter, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, sauces (such as marinara or stir fry), almonds, lemon juice, other citrus flavors, and hot peppers.
What to do with a bag of fresh green beans?
Clean the green beans in water, cut off the ends, and set out to dry. Next, prepare the green beans by steaming, boiling, sautéing, or roasting. Use high heat and cook quickly. Steaming or sautéing are preferred methods because the green beans have a better chance to remain crispy and green.
