Surprising BBQ Tuna With Broccoli and Rice

BBQ tuna with broccoli and brown rice. Filling, healthy, and great tasting. 

BBQ sauce is a favorite of mine so I pretty much will try it with anything, including tuna steaks. I prefer tuna steaks on the grill with some nice BBQ sauce, but this recipe will do when the weather is not cooperating.

If you are a tuna lover, it is worth giving this recipe a try. If you decide it is the worst thing you have ever tasted, let us know. We welcome all kinds of cooking and tasting comments.

BBQ Tuna with Broccoli Recipe

How to Make BBQ Tuna

Cooking the Rice:

  • Follow the instructions on the package and cook 1 cup of dry brown rice. Use a rice cooker or cook in a sauce pan on the stove.

Preparing the Tuna:

  • While the rice is cooking place each piece of tuna on a piece of aluminum foil. Season each piece of tuna with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of BBQ sauce. Seal the aluminum foil and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

Preparing the Vegetables:

  • While the rice is cooking, bring a large skillet to high heat. Add the olive oil and sliced garlic and sauté until the garlic begins to turn golden. Next, add the broccoli, salt, and pepper and sauté for 5-7 minutes, mixing occasionally, until the broccoli softens.

How to Serve BBQ Tuna

  • To serve this BBQ tuna recipe, In a bowl, place the rice and broccoli on one half, and the BBQ tuna on the other half.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 small tuna steaks
  • 1 cup dry brown rice
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic sliced
  • 2 tbsp. BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt for tuna
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper for tuna
  • Pinch of salt for broccoli
  • Pinch of black pepper for broccoli
