Welcome to the first recipe in our Stir Fry Cabbage series of recipes. In this version we are carrots, onions, and stir fry sauce to create a wonderful and tasty stir fry cabbage dish. This series of recipes will feature cabbage sautéed with different vegetables.. What will change the most in these recipes are the complimentary ingredients. For instance, in the second version of this recipe, bell peppers and quinoa are the main complimentary ingredients.
The purpose of this blog is to demonstrate how a base recipe, in this case, stir fry cabbage, can create a new recipe with a few ingredient changes. First, we create a recipe, then we taste the recipe, then we change up the ingredients to develop a new recipe from the original recipe. This is the innovative part of the process. That is why our approach to cooking is: create, taste, innovate.

Cooking vegetables at high heat with garlic, olive oil, and sweet sauces is so delicious. It is one of my absolute favorite ways to cook vegetables. The explosion of flavors is wonderful and the combinations of vegetables are endless.
In my pantry, I always keep a full stock of sauces. Be it, stir fry, teriyaki, soy, and mandarin, to name a few. I find this is the best way to ensure I have what I need on hand when I am in the mood for stir fry vegetables. Also, these sauces make great additional to marinades for chicken or pork, so it is really a win-win.
This stir fry cabbage recipe comes together pretty quickly so I would ensure all of the ingredients are measured out and all of the vegetables are cut and ready to go. I like to layer the vegetables into the dish, by first starting with the garlic, then adding in the onions and carrots, and finally adding in the cabbage.
If you prefer a dish with less maintenance, begin by sautéing the garlic in extra virgin olive oil to release those wonderful flavors, then add in all of the remaining vegetables and ingredients. For there, cook until the vegetables are tender, ensuring to mix occasionally.

How to Make Stir Fry Cabbage
Preparing the Cabbage:
- In a large pot add in the extra virgin olive oil and bring to a high heat. Next, add in the garlic and sauté until golden, about 1-2 minutes.
- Next, add in the onion and carrots and sauté for 2 minutes, mixing occasionally.
- Next, add the sliced cabbage, salt, and black pepper.
- Cover the pot and sauté for 5 minutes, mixing occasionally, or until the cabbage reduces by half.
- Next, remove the lid and add the stir fry sauce and the soy sauce.
- Keeping the lid off, bring to a simmer and cook for 7-10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender, ensuring to mix occasionally
How to Serve Stir Fry Cabbage
- Place the stir fry cabbage in a large serving dish or serve with a side of rice.

Ingredients
- 1 small/medium green cabbage sliced
- 4 cloves of garlic sliced
- 2 medium onions sliced
- 2 sweet onions sliced
- 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp. stir fry sauce
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce reduced sodium
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. black pepper
Instructions
