Tangy Orange Chicken. Chicken bites cooked in a sweet and tangy orange sauce and served with bulgur wheat and green beans.
If you have never tasted bulgur wheat I suggest you give it a try. The first time I had it was as an adult. I really enjoyed it. Try and make it as an alternative to rice, that is what I recommend.
I rotate the grain with couscous, quinoa, and barley. Those are my other alternatives to having brown or white rice. Otherwise it would be rice every day of the week! There is nothing wrong with that, i just like the variation.
To prepare the orange sauce bring orange juice and honey to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Next, cut some chicken into cubes and toss with flour.
Fry the chicken cubes until golden brown in canola oil. Drain off the excess oil and pour the orange sauce over the chicken. Saute for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
If you prefer a thicker orange sauce simmer for about 10 minutes instead of the 5 minutes the recipe calls for. Then when you add the orange sauce to the chicken it will already be a thicker consistency.

Invent Your Recipe:
I prepared this orange chicken dish with a side of bulgur wheat and green beans. If you have never tried bulgur wheat I highly suggest it. It is very filling and healthy and a great alternative to rice.
You could also use brown rice, quinoa, farro, or couscous as grain alternatives.
As always with Invent Your Recipe, change it up and cook your favorite sides with this recipe. This chicken is so delicious I would even recommend serving it all on its own as an appetizer.
Crunchy and sweet…loved it!
